Video: Ralph Macchio, the Original ‘Karate Kid’ Tries to Be Bad

Rodriguez/Getty Images)With the approaching release of the new “Karate Kid” movie starring Jaden Smith (Will Smith’s boy) and Jackie Chan, many fans of the original 1984 film find themselves wondering whatever happened to the first karate kid, Ralph Macchio.

Well, he’s actually done quite a bit of work since the mid 80s starring most recently in episodes of “Entourage,” “Ugly Betty” and “Law & Order: Criminal Intent.” But he never really ascended to the level of stardom that seemed so inevitable with the success of his “Karate Kid” movies. Why? He’s just too…. nice.
