Any time Terrence Malick decides to direct a film, it becomes an event, for film fanatics at least. Every one of his pictures has been called a masterpiece by at least a few prominent critics. “Badlands,” “Days of Heaven,” “The Thin Red Line” and “The New World” all have dedicated followers and they all have some of the most beautiful imagery in all of cinema. His newest film, “The Tree of Life,” starring Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Jessica Chastain looks to be no different in that department and looks sure to be a contender for next year’s Oscars. Look for it in theaters May 27, 2011.
