Terry Gilliam, the man behind “Twelve Monkeys,” “Brazil,” and “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas” says that “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote,” a project he previously abandoned due to a stretch of bad luck, is back on.

Filming is expected to begin early next year.

Production was well underway on the film, which starred Johnny Depp, in 2000 but a terrible storm destroyed equipment and co-star Jean Rochefort became ill after only a few days of shooting.

There was also a long legal battle over the script rights, which Gilliam lost to an insurance company that covered investors’ losses on the unfinished film.
