Spike Jonze, director of mind bending films like “Being John Malkovich” and “Adaptation,” has acquired the feature rights to Shane Jones’ debut novel “Light Boxes.”

Variety reports that Ray Tintori is attached to direct.

The narrative to the Genius Press published “Light Boxes,” focuses on a mysterious town that endures a relentless and deadly 1,000-day winter.

Tintori’s directing resume includes a string of music videos and the short films “Jettison Your Loved Ones” and “Death to the Tinman.”

Jonze is currently in post-production on the highly anticipated adapation of the popular children’s book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” for Warner Bros.
