Secretariat, arguably the most famous thoroughbred racehorse of all time, is finally getting his movie.

THR reports that Dylan Walsh, John Malkovich and Scott Glenn have all recently signed on to star in the story of the horse that won the 1973 Triple Crown and set myriad records, many of which still stand.

Diane Lane will star as Penny Tweedy, Secretariat’s housewife-owner who rose above gender inequality to enable her horse’s greatness.

Walsh will play her husband, a hot-shot attorney who portrays many of the time period’s chauvinistic  qualities.

Malkovich will play the trainer and Glenn an aristocrat who loses the horse in a famous coin toss.

Randall Wallace will direct Mike Rich’s script while Mark Ciardi and Gordon Gray produce.

The film is scheduled to be released sometime in 2010.
