With the inexplicable continued success of the “Saw” franchise, Lionsgate has greenlit “Saw VII” months before “Saw VI” has even been released.
Variety reports that David Hackl, production designer of the second, third and fourth films and director of “Saw V,” has been hired to helm the latest installment of a franchise that has grossed over $700 million worldwide.
“Saw VI” is due to open in it’s comfortable October slot, and the studio is hoping to start production on “Saw VII” in January.
Mark Burg and Oren Koules, producers of all “Saw” films to date, will be back.
Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, writers of the last three films will also be back for the seventh installment.
