Hot on the heels of a successful box office take with “Paranormal Activity 2,” the sequel to Oren Peli’s hand-held horror flick, Bloody Disgusting has learned that Paramount Pictures has firmed up October 21, 2011 to release the third film in the “found footage” horror series, “Paranormal Activity 3.”

The Tod Williams-directed prequel/sequel “Paranormal Activity 2” has so far grossed $156 million worldwide, while Peli’s 2009 original took in more than $193 million.

No other details are available, but it’s probably a safe bet that if number three can match or top either of its predecessors we’re looking at a long and prosperous franchise, e.g., the “Saw” films.
