Neil Patrick Harris, star of CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother” is set to direct his first feature film, “Aaron and Sarah.”
Risky Biz reports that the Emmy and Tony host will direct the indie romantic comedy written by Chad Gomez Creasey and Dara Resnik Creasey (ABC’s “Pushing Daisies”) about a nerdy guy and a popular girl who become friends as high school freshmen and grow increasingly closer through those notoriously difficult four years until graduation.
Emma Roberts and Josh Hutcherson are attached for the lead roles.
Originally titled “B.F.F.,” the spec script was purchased by Rogue Pictures several years ago before Fox 2000 saved it from turnaround. Directors David O. Russell and Joe Nussbaum were both developing the film at different points in its progression towards production before Harris signed on to shepherd it the rest of the way.
