Mickey Rourke’s comeback was no fluke. After garnering an Oscar nom for the hit, “The Wrestler” he landed roles in the upcoming “Iron Man 2″ and now is set to star in “Mona Lisa,” a remake of the 1980s British gangster flick.
Variety reports, “Rourke will play an ex-con who takes a job as a chauffeur for a high-class escort. Eva Green is in advanced negotiations to star opposite him.
Bob Hoskins and Cathy Tyson starred in the original 1986 pic directed by Neil Jordan.
Helmer Larry Clark (“Kids,” “Wassup Rockers”) is writing and directing the remake, which is being produced by Handmade Films with Handmade Films Intl. handling worldwide sales.”
