Hoops superstar, LeBron James, will make his feature starring debut in the sports comedy, “Fantasy Basketball Camp,” for Universal Pictures and Imagine Entertainment.

Variety reports that the NBA icon will play himself in the pic and co-executive produce along with his partner, Maverick Carter, and Imagine’s Michael Rosenberg and Kim Roth.

Brian Grazer will produce the Lowell Ganz and Babaloo Mandel-penned script.

The comedy will center on a group of four or five guys from diverse backgrounds who travel to Vegas to take part in the LeBron James Adult Basketball Camp.  They begin to unwittingly drag the basketball star into their petty and increasingly wacky personal issues and fights.

Grazer, who also produced the Eminem  starrer, “8 Mile,” said of James:

“I initially sought LeBron out because my 8-year-old son, Thomas, and I were just dying to meet him, but I felt that beyond being one of the world’s great superstar athletes, here was someone so relaxed and comfortable with himself that he would have the capability to be that way onscreen,” Grazer said. “Later, when I watched him host ‘Saturday Night Live,’ and saw his advertising work, it was clear he can do this.”

Studio his hoping to get production underway next summer.
