Blue Sky Disney is reporting that Sony has settled on Josh Hutcherson to anchor their upcoming reboot of the “Spider-Man” franchise replacing Tobey McGuire as the brainy web-slinging superhero.
The 17-year-old star is best known for his roles in “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and the recent “Cirque du Freak: The Vampire’s Assistant,” and is also slated to appear in the upcoming remake of the 1980s cold war classic, “Red Dawn.”
Blue Sky reports that Hutcherson was chosen by director Marc Webb and the top Sony brass after extensive test shoots. An offer has reportedly already been extended by the studio and accepted by Hutcherson.
