John Lennon, who once said he wasn’t one for autobiography, will be the subject of a new film.

The rights to “Nowhere Boy,” a feature-length biopic of sorts based on the childhood of the seminal musician, Beatle, and pop-culture icon have been acquired by The Weinstein Co., and the film is already in production.

The rights to release the film in the U.S., Latin American and Germany were acquired from producer Ecosse Films.

It will star Aaron Johnson (“The Illusionist”) as a young Lennon, and Kristin Scott Thomas as his Aunt Mimi, who raised Lennon for a portion of his youth. Josh Bolt and Anne-Marie Duff are the only other actors confirmed for the project.

Sam Taylor-Wood is set to direct the script by Bafta-winning writer of “Control” (a film about Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis) Matt Greenhalgh.
