Charles Dickens’ classic, “A Christmas Carol” will be adapted again, this time by Disney and Hollywood funnyman, Jim Carrey will play the infamous party-pooper, Ebenezer Scrooge.

After playing another Holiday hater, The Grinch, in Dr. Seuss’ beloved “How the Grinch Stole Christmas,” it’s not surprising that Carrey would more-or-less reprise that role in another anti-Christmas persona. But what’s interesting about this film is that Scrooge isn’t the only character that will get the Carrey treatment. The ghosts of Christmas past, present and future will all be Carrey-ized.

Carrey and director Robert Zemeckis showed a sneak peak of the film Monday at the Cannes Film Festival which will be titled, “Disney’s A Christmas Carol.”

The style Zemeckis used in the film is similar to that of “The Polar Express” and “Beowulf” in which the actors’ movements are tracked by dozens of infrared cameras and then animated with CGI.

Zemeckis explained his decision to film in this style saying, “We didn’t have any cinematic tools to actually present the story the way it’s written. Generally, the Ghost of Christmas Past is played by a woman wearing a wedding gown, but if you read what Dickens actually wrote, it is a very bizarre, surreal character like what we put on screen.”
