Irvine Welsh, the author of “Trainspotting,” later adapted for film by Oscar-winner Danny Boyle, is said to be taking the reigns of the soccer comedy, “The Magnificent Eleven” for Angry Badger Pictures according to Variety.

The film is a modern take on the classic western, “The Magnificent Seven” and tells the story of a local amateur soccer team and their adventures with a Tandoori restaurant and a group of menacing thugs.

Father-son writing team, Pete and John Adams will contribute to the screenplay to get pre-production done for filming to begin later this year.
