The folks behind the 2008 hit “Iron Man” have upped the star power ante landing Scarlett Johansson and Mickey Rourke for the sequel, tentatively scheduled for release on May 7th 2010.
According to Johansson’s people she is “thrilled” to be playing the Black Widow opposite Robert Downey Jr.
Director John Favreau and his Marvel crew have also reportedly inked a deal with Mickey Rourke who will play the villain Whiplash.
Rourke’s had apparently held out for more money after initial offer was a meager $250,000. The final amount agreed upon has yet to be released.
The film will be returning Gwyneth Paltrow as Pepper Potts, and will include Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Don Cheadle as Col. James “Rhodey” Rhodes.
