Industrial Light + Magic, the effects studio behind films like, “Star Trek,” “Terminator Salvation,” “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” and “Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince,” will shift the reins from current president, Chrissie England, to the executive in charge of production, Lynwen Brennan, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

At the end of the six-month transitional period Brennan will become president and GM of ILM in February.  England, a 30-year veteran of the company, will become an advisor in marketing, client relationships, and general business and production strategies.

The power shift has been in the works for two years.  England said in a released statement: “At this juncture in my career I need to rebalance my priorities so that I can devote more attention to my family. As succession plans go, this is really an ideal scenario.”

The THR article went on to report, “Brennan joined ILM as a technical area lead for the computer graphics department in 1999. She was promoted to her current role in July 2006. Earlier, she was an original member of Parallax Software and held marketing positions at Avid and Alias/Wavefront.

In related news, Gretchen Libby and Janet Lewin were promoted. Libby was named executive in charge of marketing and global production and Lewin assumes the title executive in charge of production operations…”
