John Carpenter, the master of horror, will direct the adaptation of John Marks’ 2008 novel “Fangland” for Sriram Das and Blumhouse Productions.
ComingSoon reports that the project, which has been in development for some time now, will star two-time Oscar-winner Hilary Swank as Evangeline Harker, the plucky producer of “The Hour,” a TV news magazine show in the vein of “60 Minutes.”
Although details about how faithful the film will be to the book aren’t yet clear, the narrative will roughly follow Harker on assignment to Transylvania where she “delivers more than a story when mysterious e-mails, coffins, and a creepy guy named Torgu descend on the New York office.”
Coming on the heels of this summer’s “The Ward,” the film solidifies the welcome return of the legendary Carpenter who directed classics like “Halloween” and “The Thing” after nearly a decade away from the director’s chair.
