Godzilla, the giant Japanese dinosaur-monster that has terrorized Tokyo dozens of times in nearly 30 movies over the last 50 years isn’t done yet.

Making his debut in 1954’s “Gojira” from the Toho Company, Godzilla is a giant kaijū monster that lives in the sea and periodically emerges to feed on humans.

Bloody Disgusting has the scoop on a new Godzilla flick being developed by Legendary Pictures.  No real details are available yet, other than that they are in early discussions, and that Legendary is, of course, looking to reboot the franchise rather than make any type of sequel or prequel.

The most recent Godzilla picture of note was Roland Emmerich’s 1998 remake effort for TriStar Pictures wherein in the giant beast terrorized New York City.  It starred Matthew Broderick.

While doing press for his upcoming disaster epic, “2012,” Emmerich stated that he’s not interested in sequels when asked about directing the new Godzilla pic.
