WICHITA, Kan.—When visiting Rock Island Studios this Final Friday, don’t be surprised to hear calls of “Step right up,” “See the acts that are seldom seen,” and “It’s not for the highbrow or squeamish!” as Dr. Dillinger’s Freaks and Floozies will be performing live from 6:30-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 25.
The event is a “pass the hat” fundraiser for Tallgrass Film Festival and will take place in the courtyard of Rock Island Studios on the Mead Street side of Old Town Plaza. Although presented in a sideshow style, Freaks and Floozies, according to Dr. Dillinger: “Could probably be more accurately described as avant-garde vaudeville, or odd-ville. We’ll have everything from dancing girls, my performing fleas, sideshow stunts, traditional Nepalese blood gargling, and a little act called Floozies on Parade, which I don’t even want to try to explain. Basically we have a ‘little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down the pants’ type of show. Oh yeah, we’ll also have the six-foot tall, man-eating chicken.”
