Palme d’Or winning Serbian filmmaker Emir Kusturica will tackle legendary Mexican revolutionary Francisco “Pancho” Villa in his next film. He plans to shoot entirely in Spanish and on location in Mexico.

Kusturica, most famous for 1985’s “When Father Was Away on Business” and 1995’s “Underground” announced his plans for the film Sunday while being presented a career achievement award at the Guadalajara International Film Festival before the screening of his latest film–a documentary about Argentine fútbol legend Diego Maradona entitled, “Maradona by Kusturica.”

He said, “On these kinds of occasions, it’s typical to say empty phrases like ‘thank you very much’ and ‘I’m very pleased,’ but I’m not going to say that. Instead, I’m going to say that I’m going to make a film in this country, in Spanish. It’s a film about one of my idols, Pancho Villa, and his friends.”
