Columbia Pictures gets showy and acquires an untitled look at the early years of famous showman, P.T. Barnum.

Variety reports that “Moneyball” scribe, Stan Chervin, will write the biopic on Barnum that will cover his years as a shopkeeper up through the realization of his circus which he famously called, “The Greatest Show on Earth.”

Chervin also penned the upcoming “J Mac,” the true story of Jason McElwain, an autistic high schooler who went from team manager to sinking six three-pointers for the team in a crucial situation, for Sony and producer Laura Ziskin.

Todd Garner will produce under his Broken Road Productions banner.
