It was announced today at the New York Comic-Con, (via Firstshowing.net) that The Chemical Brothers, the pioneering British big beat electronica duo, will score the entirety of Joe Wright’s “Hanna.”

Starring Saoirse Ronan (“Atonement,” “The Lovely Bones”) and Eric Bana (“Star Trek,” “Munich”), “Hanna” centers on a 14-year-old Eastern European girl (Ronan) raised by her father (Bana) to be a cold-blooded killing machine.

Director Joe Wright, who has known the group for nearly two decades through the 1990s rave scene, said he went with The Chemical Brothers to give “Hanna” a more “modern beat” as opposed to the classical scores of his previous films.

With Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails scoring “The Social Network,” Daft Punk scoring “Tron Legacy” and Phoenix scoring “Somewhere,” “Hanna” marks the latest in a growing trend in Hollywood to hire pop or indie bands to score films as an alternative to traditional multi-piece orchestras or classical recordings.
