WICHITA, Kan.—Wichita Association for the Motion Picture Arts (WAMPA) is excited to announce that Chef Tanya Tandoc will be returning to the downtown area with a temporary mini-restaurant exclusively for the 2009 Tallgrass Film Festival.
Tanya’s Soup Kitchen Caravan will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday, Oct. 23 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 25 in a parking lot adjacent to the festivities. The popular chef will be offering a choice of two of her best-selling soups, each served with a fresh-baked roll for one reasonable price. The temporary kitchen and dining area will be open-air, and will include wine and beer bar service for patrons 21 years and up who present proper I.D. The general public is welcome to attend.
“We are thrilled that Tanya is joining us in the Tallgrass festivities this year,” said Ann Keefer, President of WAMPA. “How often do you hear someone say they wish they had a bowl of Tanya’s soup? I wish I had a bowl of tomato bisque right now!”
Tanya’s Soup Kitchen Caravan is just one of the many additions and changes that Tallgrass Film Festival is introducing this year. Visitors to the festival will also experience changes in venue including the addition of the Scottish Rite Temple, Bank of America , and the Garvey Center, as well as a Quirky Attractions of Kansas mini-golf course. Approximately one hundred films will be screened over a three-day period during the festival, along with parties, panel discussions, and the Ad Astra Award presentation to independent film maverick Seymour Cassel . This year’s festival is scheduled for Oct. 23-25, 2009 at venues in and around downtown Wichita.
