Bruce Lee, the legendary martial artist and actor died 36 years ago this week. A three-part biopic is being planned about his extraordinary life in cooperation with his family and China’s J.A. Media.

Variety and the AP both report that “Bruce Lee,” which is slated to start shooting in October with Tony Leung Ka-fai as Lee’s father will be produced by Li Chen and executive produced by Manfred Wong.

$7.3 million has already been invested in the pic which is scheduled for a Nov. 27, 2010 release, the 70th anniversary of Lee’s birth.

Robert Lee, Bruce’s brother, said he was hoping for an authoritative account of his brother’s life. “We’ve read many books and seen many movies about Bruce Lee, but there are many inaccuracies in them,” he said.
