Anton Yelchin’s star continues to rise despite taking part in the disaster that was McG’s “Terminator Salvation.”
Yelchin, and co-star, Jennifer Lawrence, will play young lovers in “The Beaver,” the new Jodie Foster-directed flick for Anonymous Content and Summit Entertainment. Mel Gibson signed on the project as well, only a few months ago.
Kyle Killen penned the dark-comedy script in which Gibson will star as a depressed man who can only find solace in his hand puppet shaped like a beaver. Yelchin, who most recently starred in J.J. Abrams’ “Star Trek,” will Gibson’s character’s son.
Lawrence currently stars in Guillermo Arriaga’s “The Burning Plain” and has recently wrapped on Debra Granik’s “Winter’s Bones.”
The script topped Hollywood’s blacklist (a list that circulates around Hollywood detailing the very best scripts yet to be produced) in December.
Summit is shooting for a late 2010 or early 2011 release.
