Funnyman, Zach Galifianakis, has exploded as a bankable Hollywood star.
Todd Phillips’ smash-hit, the $461 million grossing, “The Hangover,” in which Galifianakis starred, has propelled the little-known standup comedian into a high demand A-lister. THR reports that he is currently in talks, among other things, to voice the Humpty Dumpty character in a “Shrek” spinoff called “Puss in Boots.”
Tom Wheeler is scripting the film as a prequel, which already boasts a cast that includes Antonio Banderas and Salma Hayek, and will center on the events that led up up to the feline assassin’s first meeting with Shrek in “Shrek 2.”
Chris Miller, co-directer and co-writer of “Shrek the Third,” will direct “Puss” for DreamWorks.
The Puss in Boots character will be busy next year with this film slated to open Nov. 4, 2011, and yet another “Shrek” movie, “Shrek Forever After” which opens May 21.
