Willem Dafoe is the most recent addition to the cast of Disney’s upcoming fantasy epic, “John Carter of Mars.”

Variety reports that Dafoe will join Taylor Kitsch and Lynn Collins in the film to be directed by “Wall-e” director, Andrew Stanton.

Dafoe will take on the role of the fierce Martian warrior, Tars Tarkas.  Tarkas is a strange being among his people in that he has developed the ability to love.

If the films generally follow the narrative of the Edgar Rice Burroughs books, then there’s a good chance Dafoe may be around for coming sequels.

Jim Morris and Colin Wilson are producing the script written by Stanton and Mark Andrews.
