The indomitable team that brought us the 1990 cult classic, “King of New York,” is teaming up again for the action thriller, “Game of Death,” reports Variety.
Wesley Snipes and director Abel Ferrara will reunite after 20 years apart to bring to life the script penned by James Agnew.
Snipes, who’s been conspicuously absent from mainstream cinema for some time thanks to tax problems and other nagging issues, will star as a political bodyguard who utilizes his considerable training and skills to fight off the world’s top assassins.
Zoe Bell and Robert Davi have also signed on to star in the flick.
Billy Dietrich and Rafael Primorac will produce. Nicolas Chartier, Nadine de Barros and Roger Grad of Voltage Pictures will exec produce along with Perpetual Media Capital financiers Alastair Burlingham and Steve Robbins.
Sony Pictures has US distrib rights, while Voltage is taking on distrib for Germany, France, U.K., Latin America and East Europe.
Shooting is already underway in Detroit.
