The long wait is finally over. Fox has selected Nimrod Antal, the director of horror film “Vacancy,” to helm “Predators,” the Robert Rodriguez-produced third solo and combined fifth installment in the “Predator” franchise.  This news confirms the rumors that have been circulating for weeks that Antal was the front-runner for the spot.

THR reports that Antal will a direct an already completed script penned by Alex Litvak and Michael Finch, which the studio hopes will reinvigorate the alien-hunter property for the first time since 1990.

In this installment, “a group of humans will find themselves stranded on a planet home to Predators and must survive the horrors they encounter.”

The film is slated for a July 7, 2010 release with Rodriguez overseeing production at Troublemaker Studios in Texas.
