Summit Entertainment has agreed to co-finance “The Cold Light of Day,” a thriller, with Intrepid Pictures.

Variety reports that Trevor Macy and Marc D. Evans of Intrepid will produce the flick, which they’ve been developing over the past year.

Scott Wiper and John Petro wrote the script, which centers on a young American whose family is kidnapped while on holiday in Spain.  He has mere hours to find them, expose a government conspiracy, and make the connection between their disappearance and his father’s shady past.

Production is scheduled to begin next spring.  Summit has committed to distribute domestically and sell internationally.

As of yet, no director has be named for the project.

Spanish producer Galavis Film, Galavis principal Jesus Martinez, Kevin Mann, Matthew Perniciaro and Wiper are all attached to produce in some capacity.

Summit’s plate also includes distribution obligations for the Jake Gyllenhaal vehicle, “Source Code.”
