‘Slumdog’ Director Danny Boyle Inks 3-year Deal With Fox Searchlight

Empire Film Awards in LondonFilmmaker Danny Boyle, best know for directing “28 Days Later,” “Trainspotting,” and Best Picture winner, “Slumdog Millionaire” has signed a three-year producing deal with Fox Searchlight and Pathe Pictures, reports Variety.

The terms of the deal stipulate that Searchlight and Pathe will co-finance and co-produce Boyle’s projects although the director has yet to announce his next film.

Searchlight has agreed to distribute in the U.S. and in those markets abroad not handled by Pathe, and Pathe will distribute in the U.K., France, Ireland and Switzerland, among others.

Both companies were critical in helping “Slumdog Millionaire” reach a worldwide audience and subsenquently sweep the Academy Awards this year.  The film has also become one of the most successful indie movies ever made having grossed a worldwide total of $352.8 million.
