If you didn’t think Hollywood was desperate for ideas before, it is now undeniable.
Lisa Hamilton Day, a former executive at DreamWorks posted the following update on her Facebook account last week:
“Lisa Hamilton Day’s Pomeranian raided Chinese takeout bag overnight, opened and ate a fortune cookie. Her fortune: You have strong spiritual powers, and you should develop them.”
Christy Fletcher, who runs the New York lit agency Fletcher and Company, apparently loved the comment and immediately saw dollar signs.
Fletcher has since teamed up with Howie Sanders at UTA to make that strange little post into a feature film, according to Publisher Weekly.
It will be a tween-targeted film in the vein of (God help us) “Beverly Hills Chihuahua,” that follows “…Charlotte, the Pomeranian, who uses her newfound superpowers to save her owner’s home after said owner loses her job and is forced to contemplate moving in with her folks.”
So, all you aspiring screenwriters, forget pouring your blood, sweat, and tears into what may become the next “Citizen Kane,” or “The Godfather,” and dedicate your life to posting clever little Facebook updates. The sad thing is, you may actually have a better shot at making it in modern Hollywood.
